BAYHAWKS' HUBBARD TO MISS 2009 SEASON

The
Washington Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier
professional outdoor lacrosse league, have learned that veteran
attackman Jesse Hubbard (Princeton, ‘98) will miss the entire 2009 MLL season after suffering a herniated disc in his neck.
Hubbard,
who has played in the League since its inception in 2001, was one of
the New Jersey Pride’s original three assigned players along with Jon Hess and Jay Jalbert. Appearing in 95 regular season games, Hubbard trails only Scott Urick (97), Chris Schiller (98), and Tim Goettlemann (98) in total regular season games played.
Hubbard
spent seven seasons with the Pride before being traded to the Los
Angeles Riptide prior to the start of the 2008 season. His best season
for New Jersey came in 2002 when he scored an MLL single-season record
54 goals, including 4 two-pointers, and 9 assists for a total of 67
points. Hubbard led the League in goals scored in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
Last
season, with a four-goal performance versus the Philadelphia Barrage at
L.A.’s Home Depot Center on July 26, Hubbard eclipsed Mark Millon’s all-time record of 239 career goals to become the League’s all-time goals leader.
Scoring
26 goals with Los Angeles in 2008, Hubbard has scored a total of 247
goals. In addition to being the League leader in goals scored, Hubbard
is fifth all-time in points scored with 352, sixth all-time in
game-winning goals with 7, seventh in two-point goals with 16, and is
also tied for eighth all-time in assists with 89.
A five-time MLL All-Star, Hubbard was assigned to the Washington Bayhawks this past offseason.
While
playing at Princeton University, Hubbard won three NCAA Championships
in 1996, 1997, and 1998. With 163 goals, he is Princeton’s all-time
leader in goals scored.
